Courtney and Zach had a fabulous, fun Wedding at Architectural Artifacts in Chicago just a few weeks ago. Amazing salvaged furniture and architectural remnants set the stage for a gorgeous Ceremony and Reception, with super cool lighting and vibrant touches of color. Their Ceremony had just the right amount of personal touches and tradition, with Zach’s Dad Officiating. The dinner featured some wonderful, heartfelt and funny speeches, and then the dance floor erupted with excited party goers, fueled by tunes from Rachel of Toast and Jam DJs. Anthony from Liven It Up Events was there to make sure everything went off without a hitch, and it was such a perfectly timed event! Check out some words from the Bride and Groom, and then on to some photos!
Looking back, what where some of your favorite parts or moments of the Wedding day?
Cliche as it sounds, everything was special in it’s own way but some of our favorites were … The catwalk entrance to walk down the aisle, the speeches of family and friends, and dancing on the catwalk to LCD Soundsystems “all my friends” with everyone cheering us on.

What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?
Courtney: my favorite fashion piece was the fur stole I got on eBay just a few weeks before the wedding. I knew I wanted one for pictures outside – after all it was February – and it felt perfect for the vintage vibe we were going for.

Zach: mine was a custom made tuxedo from Indochino. The midnight blue added a unique touch on an already personalized piece.
What was the inspiration for your decor or styling?
Prior to picking our venue, we had no clue what we wanted to do in terms of colors, decor, styling etc. But once we decided on Architectural Artifacts, everything fell into place. The store itself drew us in to a vintage antique vibe where things didn’t perfectly match but all worked together. Some highlights were the antique keys for name tags, lamp posts for the ceremony and boxes on the entry table from a salvage store.
Mention a funny moment here:
As part of the ceremony, we had to drink wine several times from a cup. We had planned on white wine or water to avoid a mishap in spilling. When it came to that part of the ceremony, we looked and realized it was in fact red wine. We just chuckled and likely will end up with pictures of us awkwardly leaning forward to drink from the cup.
Any advice for future Brides and/or Grooms?
Everyone has heard this before but take it all in. The thing we would add is to do that together. Throughout the evening, we would step aside, pause and just look around to see everyone and everything around us.
Are you going on honeymoon? Where?
Yep – we left for our honeymoon the day after the wedding. We headed to Africa – started in South Africa going to Cape Town then to Kruger for a safari and then went over to a small island off Mozambique.
