Megan and Kyle’s Wedding day was filled with blue skies, fluffy white clouds, kites, gorgeous light, and lovely decor at a historic former billboard factory in Chicago. Megan’s preparations at the beginning of the day were so joyful and fun! I think it’s evident in the photos how excited her Bridesmaids and Mom were for the big day to start. After a beautiful ceremony in the atrium of the building, guests were led to the loft to enjoy cocktails and dinner. Megan and Kyle’s Best Man and Maid of Honor gave wonderful, heartfelt speeches, and then it was back up to the atrium for dessert and dancing! Kristin from Toast and Jam DJs spun an energetic mix, and the Couple’s guests danced the night away. Before the photos, here are some words from the Couple!
Looking back, what were some of your favorite parts or moments of the Wedding day?
Megan: Spending the week leading up to the wedding day with my Mom who came early from Michigan. We spent 5 hours gluing the fabric on the favors/escort cards and drinking wine and had a blast! Having coffee with my two best friends/bridesmaid the morning of the wedding. Having Theo the Ring Bearer, Natalie the Flower Girl, and my cat DC all become best friends. Seeing how genuinely excited all my friends and family were for Kyle and I. Watching Kyle tear up during the vows (he doesn’t cry). Seeing my good buddy Peter who lives in the Philippines who had to fly through five countries to get here. Watching my friends keep the dance floor full all night long. And of course, having all my friends and family in one place. Oh and the cake was amazing.
Kyle: Seeing Megan for the first time during the first look. Absolutely stunning. Having my former band members play during the ceremony. Hanging out with my nephew, Theo, the ring bearer. The bacon wrapped dates & mini bison burgers.
What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?
Megan: I loved my shoes! Kate Spade “Billie” in Ivory Satin. My friend Gobs got me crystal “I DO” stickers for the bottom of my shoes for my “something blue”. I ended up putting them on a little sideways, but that just gave them more personality.
Kyle: My custom suit from Balani Custom Clothiers. It has our names & wedding date embroidered inside. I also loved the green ties I picked out for myself and my groomsman.
What was the inspiration for your decor or styling?
We loved the venue. We fell in love with all the windows in the atrium and the wood beams and exposed brick in the loft. We wanted all the décor to play off of that urban, rustic feel.
Mention a funny moment here:
The flower girl Natalie getting half way down the aisle and stopping because she ran out of flowers. She wanted to save two flowers for her stuffed rabbit, Bunny, who was saving her seat (the only way we could get her to walk down the aisle without him). Photographer’s note: Check out the pictures of this below!
Any advice for future Brides and Grooms?
Pick the best vendors you can find and trust them! We gave pretty general guidance on what we were looking for and relied heavily on the vendors for their expertise. As a result, we weren’t stressed out about small details and everything turned our perfectly. Also just try to enjoy the moment. There were a couple times I started to stress, and I just reminded myself how fast the day was going and not to let small deviations from the plan bother me and take me away from all the awesomeness that was happening. Oh and eat! Plan your meals in advance and make sure your bridesmaids are carrying snacks at all times!
Are you going on honeymoon? Where?
We’re going to the Galapagos Islands the at the end of May. Can’t wait to see the giant turtles and blue footed booby!
