Valerie and Patrick’s relaxed and fun Wedding at Old Oak Tap, Chicago, Illinois

Valerie and Patrick had exactly the kind of fun and relaxed Wedding they were hoping for. Surrounded by friends and family, with good food, good drinks, and celebration! Old Oak Tap is such a cool, unique place to have a Wedding. I used to live in Ukrainian Village, and I miss the neighborhood! Check out the Q&A with the Couple, and then some favorite photos!

Looking back, what were some of your favorite parts or moments of the Wedding day?
Our favorite part of the day was when we were sitting at our own little table for dinner and had 15 minutes to take a look around, see how happy everyone was, and also take a few minutes to reflect on everything that had just happened!

What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?
I really loved my dress from David’s Bridal. I wanted a simple, yet elegant dress and had a vision in my head going into looking at dresses. As soon as I saw my dress, I knew it was “the one”.

What was the inspiration for your decor or styling?
We have always loved Old Oak Tap and wanted to have our wedding someplace that was meaningful to us as a couple. It was the perfect venue as it was simple and already elegantly decorated: between the lofty feel and the candles, the understated stylishness fit our personalities perfectly.

Mention a funny moment here:
I loved when Emily, my Matron of Honor, accidentally introduced us as Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Mulvey (instead of Fogerty) after her speech.

Any wedding advice for engaged couples?
As you’re planning for your wedding, have fun! Pick vendors that reflect your style and that mesh well with your personalities; you can leave a lot of the details to them which takes much of the stress out of the planning process. Everything goes by so quickly, so take some time to step back and enjoy!

Are you going/did you go on honeymoon? Where?
We spent almost two weeks in San Francisco, Sonoma, and Napa exploring the cities, eating great food, and drinking fantastic wine. We may have shipped 30 or so bottles back to Chicago to keep the honeymoon feel alive! 🙂
