Kate and Rudy had more than a Wedding day. It was a day for ceremony and celebration, officially joining the forces of Rudy, Kate, and their beautiful daughter Eve. Their wedding ceremony was one of the most unique, intimate, and spiritual we have ever had the pleasure of photographing, and Salvage One was the perfect setting. I am so proud of the images we took, and excited to share them. You can also read a Q&A with the Couple about their experience!
Looking back, what were some of your favorite parts or moments of the Wedding day?
For both of us, the ceremony stands out as our favorite part of the day. It was very meaningful for us. We crafted our own ceremony with the help of our mentor and friend, Talya Ring. She was originally our yoga teacher (Rudy and I met in her class) and she has a gift for creating sacred space, and for drawing out the truth in each of us. With her guidance, we were able to speak intimately to each other about our love and our intentions, so that rather than repeating the words everyone is used to hearing at a wedding, we shared with each other our deepest feelings and promises. We stood up there in front of all our family and friends and were vulnerable but confident in our honesty. It’s hard to describe how meaningful it was to share that ceremony with each other and to feel that we were supported by everyone present.
Another favorite moment is at the very end of the ceremony, lifting up our 14-month old daughter who had been sitting in the front row with her grandparents, and walking back up the aisle together as a family!
What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?
The minute we saw Salvage One, we knew it was the place we wanted to get married. After that, everything we needed to decide about the decor followed that vibe: a little vintage, a little industrial, a lot eclectic. We especially loved the vintage china we rented from Vintage Plate Rental and the copper floral centerpieces from Magic Flowers.
Mention a funny moment here:
Rudy’s brothers each gave a toast before dinner, and one of them (Perry) was especially funny to those who knew Rudy and his family. But what was even funnier (to me, at least) was that my 2-and-a-half year old nephew Julian (who was sitting at our head table with my brother) laughed hysterically every time the adults around him would laugh at one of Perry’s jokes. He is such a happy little kid and he was having such a good time! I actually sort of stopped laughing at Perry and just laughed harder to see Julian laugh!
Any wedding advice for engaged couples?
Our advice for engaged couples: Wait until after the baby is born to get married! It puts everything in perspective. Plus, how many people can say they saw their parents get married?! 🙂
Tell us about the honeymoon!
Rudy and I took Eve to Florida for a couple weeks. We relaxed by the ocean, enjoyed fresh air, and played in the sunshine. It was pretty great.
