When I walked into this room, I immediately knew I wanted to avoid:
- Lighting up the white ceiling
- Glare from the shiny lacquered wood walls
- And when I started planning the shot, I also knew that I wanted to avoid lighting up the front of the cake.
MagMod MagGrids to the rescue! The grid enabled me to isolate the light exactly on the subjects, and not light up everything else around them. I even put the flash in a place that would avoid lighting up the white table cloth, because I am a perfectionist weirdo. 🙂
The flash is about 7 feet up, and is camera right just at the edge of the dance floor in front of where the couple is walking toward. So it’s about 10 feet away from them in that shot.
