How I Shot It: Photography Tutorial 12

 

The cake cutting is always a moment I try to do something a little different for.

 

How it was done:

  • This wedding was at an art gallery, so I stood behind the sculpture that the cake was in front of.
  • There’s a AD200 on the other side of the couple with a MagMod MagGrid on a stand about 5 feet up, pointed at them. So it goes: flash->cake->couple->sculpture->camera.
  • The flash was on 1/32nd, ISO 500, f/2.8, shutter 1/200th, 24mm.
  • The sculpture was a light color, so I got some added fill light from the flash behind them bouncing onto the sculpture and then onto them!
