Atit + Anuja’s Hyatt Regency O’Hare Wedding in Rosemont, Illinois

Atit and Anuja’s Wedding was a symphony of color, vibrance, and celebration. We photographed their Sangeet as well as their Wedding, and it was a complete honor and joy to get to document it all. Here are some highlights!

Here’s a Q&A with Atit + Anuja!

Looking back, what were some of your favorite parts or moments of the Wedding day?
Anuja: My favorite part was walking down the aisle. The room was more beautiful than I had imagined it, the music was perfect, my brother was walking me down the aisle, my nephew was laying down rose petals, our families were on the mandap with friends and family gathered around in support of us, my soon to be hubby was looking oh so handsome, and that was the moment that I got to breathe and appreciate how blessed I am.

Atit: My favorite part was getting ready with my groomsmen, dad, and uncle in my room. Drinks were flowing, photos were taken, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement.

What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?

Anuja: I absolutely loved my wedding sari, and interestingly, my mom and sister were the ones to pick it out. I was living in Milwaukee for residency and my sister and mom went to a traveling Indian Bazaar one weekend and saw it just as they were leaving, underneath other clothes – it was the only one like it. They face-timed me and I immediately knew that it was the one. The deep red color with gold trim, delicate lace, meticulous stonework, and elegant pearls was just absolutely gorgeous.

Atit: I don’t have a favorite piece that I was wearing, but I absolutely loved Anuja’s reception outfit. She looked like Princess Jasmine.

What was the inspiration for your decor or styling?

Anuja: PINTEREST! I lived on pinterest for 12 months. I wanted the wedding to be simple and beautiful.

Mention a funny moment here:
Anuja: Atit’s dad danced harder than we did and then serenaded my mom out of nowhere with indian sweets and Atit’s friends around him. My mom’s reaction was of pure shock and she was laughing so hard. It was hilarious.

Any wedding advice for engaged couples?
Wedding planning is extremely stressful, but don’t let it get the best of you. The day goes by so fast and all that matters are the people around you – not what color the linens were or whether the chairs had bows. None of that mattered in the end.

Tell us about the honeymoon!

Our honeymoon was amazing! It was a mix of adventure and relaxation, which is exactly what we wanted. We went to Bali, Cambodia, and Central Vietnam. In Bali, we lounged on the beach, got massages every other day, did sunrise yoga, went scuba diving in a ship wreck, had monkeys climb on us at the Monkey Forest, climbed an active volcano to watch the sunrise, visited sacred temples, watched the beautiful cultural kecak dance, and ate traditional balinese cuisine. In Cambodia, we relaxed with more massages (they were $9 for 60 minutes!), shopped, and toured the largest religious complex in the world – Angkor Wat. It is a wild understatement to say that it is a historic beauty. In Central Vietnam, we did a caving expedition that involved trekking through the dense jungle, rock climbing, swimming inside caves, sleeping in hammocks, and making friends with people from around the world. We also went to Hoi Ann and had custom clothing made, which is something they specialize in. It was a remarkable vacation.

What was it like working with Sprung Photo?
We were so stoked when we found out Victoria was available to shoot our wedding. I fell in love with her photos and then with her after meeting her for our engagement shoot! She made both Atit and I feel so comfortable during our engagement shoot, which is pretty hard to do as we are pretty awkward in front of cameras. She had so many creative ideas, which is what I love the most about her, and she is easygoing and very professional. She is also very organized as she sent us a “photo manual” with all of the details and information about what to expect and do to make the wedding day smoother. During our wedding and reception, she and her team just blended in and I honestly forgot that they were there! Victoria made sure we got everything we wanted to shoot and even stayed longer until we got it all. We are in love with our photos and the variety that we got from amazing candid moments to creative portraits. Thank you for helping us capture one of the most special days of our life.
