How I Shot It: Photography Tutorial 36

 

My usual first dance lighting ended up working great for this Couple’s surprise “first karaoke” that they did in the middle of their first dance. 😀

 

How it was done:

  • 1 Flash with 1 MagMod MagGrid on each side of the frame, behind the Couple, toward the wall off the corners of the camera left and right part of the dance floor, pointed to the center of the dance floor. Sort of like a “V” going out from behind the Couple toward the walls.

 

It provided a dramatic short lighting on both the Bride and Groom. This also worked well for them singing to each other, since they were still facing each other. With the MagGrids, I was able to focus the light just on the Couple, and not bounce light all over the room.
