When Laura and Kevin told us that they would be getting ready at their condo and that they had two cats, we were super excited. It’s no secret that I am a crazy cat lady, and I was more than happy to have kitties running around during Laura and Kevin’s preparations for the day. The couple had a beautiful Ceremony officiated by the wonderful Bruce Otto, at the drop-dead gorgeous Bond Chapel at the University of Chicago. The celebration afterward took place at Revolution Brewing, which I happen to adore. I am so excited to share these photos with you all! Check out my favorites, along with a Q&A with the couple:
What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?
Somehow, my sister had been hanging onto the Bible our grandma’s grandma carried down the aisle when she got married in 1892. I didn’t even know such a thing existed in our family, but my sister gave it to me the night before our wedding to carry it down the aisle myself. Such a wonderful reminder of the rich heritage of love and commitment that I was about to become a part of.
What was the inspiration for your decor or styling?
Simple, low-maintenance, haha. I asked Meg at Revolution what, in her opinion, was the best way to decorate. She said flowers and lots of candles, so I guess you could say Meg was my inspiration, because that’s exactly what we did.
Mention a funny moment here:
No explicitly funny moments, but we were consistently impressed with how well everything was unfolding that day. We truly could not have asked for a more perfect day; we felt so much love and warmth from everyone and thoroughly enjoyed and savored every moment of the celebration of our commitment. Markedly the best day of both our lives.
Any wedding advice for engaged couples?
Emphasize what’s important about getting married, and de-emphasize everything else.
Tell us about the Honeymoon!
We spent two sunny weeks in Australia before flying from Melbourne to Cancun for my cousins wedding two weeks after ours – so fun to see all of family again so soon – and a nice way to wrap up our newlywed celebration!
